  • Day 1: Cuzco – Humantay Lagoon – Soraypampa Camp 

    Stop At: Humantay Lake, Cusco 08002 Peru
    Be picked up between 4:30 am – 5:00 am and drive by tourist bus to Mollepata (2,900m) where you can stretch your legs and buy snacks. Continue by car to Challacancha where we will make final preparations and double check our equipment. Embark on a 3-hour walk that will take us to Soraypampa (3,920m) where you will have lunch with panoramic views of beautiful snow-capped mountains. Hike up to Laguna de Humantay (approx. 1.5 hours each way) for more incredible views of the Andes Mountains and then return to camp for the night. The first campsite is located at 3,920 m and is the highest and coldest campsite of the trip. Take some time to rest up, and enjoy your first night immersed in nature. Have dinner and go to sleep early. Meals: L,D

    Day 2: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Chaullay Camp

    Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
    This day we will have early breakfast at 5:30 am and begin a 4-hour walk to the highest pass on this Salkantay Trek (4,650m) located halfway between 2 huge mountains; Salkantay on the right and Humantay on the left. From the pass, the views of the 2 snow-capped mountains are incredible with a possibility of snow here. After a 2-hour downhill hike, a well-deserved lunch will be served at Huayracpampa, followed by another 3-hour trek to the campsite at Chaullay or Colcapampa as you near the beginning of the high jungle region at 2,900 meters. Meals: B,L,D

    Day 3: Chaullay – La Playa – Hydroelectric Station – Aguas Calientes town 

    Stop At: Salkantay Trail, Peru
    After breakfast at 6:30 am, you will trek through the upper jungle crossing the Santa Teresa River and a variety of little brooks. Pass through valleys and enjoy the views of waterfalls, tropical fruits and plants. Have lunch at La Playa (2,200 m) and continue by car to Santa Teresa town. Then, drive to Hydroelectric Station (40 minutes) and hike for 3 hours to Aguas Calientes town. Meals: B,L,D

    Day 4: Explore Machu Picchu – Cusco 

    Stop At: Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu, Sacred Valley, Cusco Region
    On the final day, you will get up very early to enjoy one of the most magical moments the Andes have to offer - the sunrise at Machu Picchu. On the fourth and last day of the Salkantay Trek, you are given a few options. The first option allows you to walk up or take the bus to Machu Picchu for $12. In the fortress, you will have a guided tour that will last two hours. During the tour you will discover fascinating history and secrets of this ancient place. If booked in advance, you can extend the walk a few hours and experience Huayna Picchu or the Mountain of Machu Picchu for an additional $70. To finish your visit, you are given the option to walk or take the bus ($12) back to Aguas Calientes. Here you will take the train at 6:20pm to Ollantaytambo (included). Once you arrive in Ollantaytambo, you will be transferred by bus to Cusco center, where you will arrive at approximately 10:30 p.m.
