  • Day 1: Kigali City Tour (Genocide memorial, markets, museums & art galleries)

    Stop At: Kigali Genocide Memorial, KG 14 Ave, Kigali Rwanda
    The memorial commemorates the 1994 Rwandan genocide against the Tutsi. The museum provides an opportunity to understand the history of Rwanda from the pre-colonial time, through the events that led to the genocide and the social-economic transformation that took place after 1994.

    Stop At: Kimironko Market, 194 St Kg, Kigali Rwanda
    We visit the largest open air market in Kigali with lots of handicrafts, grocery stores and meat shop. The tour provides an opportunity to meet tailors for those interested in shopping African design clothes.

    We take a walk through the old town and visit the little shop, milk bars and women centre in the area.

    Day 2: Agricultural & Farm Tour and Transfer to Lake Kivu, Kibuye

    Stop At: Muhanga, Muhanga, Southern Province
    The Azizi Life Experience morning begins with a drive to a Rwandan rural village, where you be welcomed by the ladies of the cooperative.

    After introductions from your hostess, a morning of family chores begins. You might help out in the kitchen, collect water from the valley spring, cut grass for the farm animals and get out in the fields for a seasonal agricultural activity.

    At noontime, you’ll share a simple local meal with your host family, with plenty of time to chat and learn about each other’s lives. After lunch, you will join with the artisan cooperative for an afternoon of weaving. You will learn how to harvest and prepare the natural fibers, and then the artisans will teach you how to create your own piece of sisal jewelry. You will love sitting with the ladies as you weave and laugh together.

    After our rural farming experience, we drive to Lake Kivu where we spend two nights. Kibuye which is perhaps the most relaxing and romantic place in Rwanda, and is an ideal place to enjoy lakeside recreation.     Day 3: Boat trip on Lake Kivu or Cycling to Kinunu Coffee plantation

    Stop At: Lake Kivu, Kibuye Rwanda
    After our morning breakfast, we embark on a traditional boat cruise to beautiful islands and coffee plantations. The Napoleon island is home to a colony of fruit bats.

    Stop At: Kinunu Base Camp, Rutsiro, Rwanda
    Kinunu washing station lies on the shores of Lake Kivu, a large ‘inland sea’. It is a magical place, with Bourbon coffee trees growing down steep, fertile hills right to the shore of the lake (whose surface elevation is 1460m). Our boat trip takes us to a the coffee plantation where we stop and spend time with the farmers community. The ‘From crop to cup’ lake Kivu experience combines the stunning scenery of Lake Kivu with an educational excursion where visitors learn about the coffee growing process. We learn in hands-on ways about the entire coffee production chain . This lake Kivu Coffee Experience introduces the coffee growth process ‘from crop to cup’.

    Stop At: Rushel Kivu Lodge, Kayove, Rwanda
    The visitors who prefer cycling to Kinunu will arrive around 2pm because the bike tour takes around 5 hours from the Kibuye to the coffee lake town of Kinunu. Only the visitors who choose the boat tours will arrive on time for the coffee tour. After the coffee experience we enjoy a lunch break at the magnificent lake resort Rushel Kivu Lodge before taking the boat trip back to our lodge.

    Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest, Canope Walkway & Tea plantation tour

    Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
    Nyungwe is surely one of the world’s most beautiful and pristine mountain rainforests. It’s believed to be one of Africa’s oldest forests and home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primates species (including a 400-strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori Black & White Colobus), it’s also a birder’s paradise with over 300 species, including 16 endemics, and is home to 75 different species of mammal.

    This majestic rainforest is filled with nature and wildlife experiences for you to emerge yourself in. Hiking or even biking the beautiful terrain, tracking the famous chimpanzees, experiencing the canopy walk, witnessing beautiful birds, relaxing by waterfalls are just a glimpse of activities that Nyungwe offers.

    Stop At: Gisakura, Gisakura, Western Province
    After our canope walkway and nature hike in Nyungwe forest, we drive for a few minutes to our hotel which is surrounded by the tea plantations and the lush green hills of Rwanda. Visitors may take walk through the tea plantations around the hotel and engage with the local farming community.

    Day 5: Chimpanzee, Colobus Monkeys or Waterfall & Cultural Tour / Transfer to Kigali

    Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
    At 5:00 am, join your guide for a chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe Forest. Learn about these unique primates – the closest relative to humans. The tropical waterfall, bird watching or colobus monkeys tracking are alternative tours for those who may not be fit for chimpanzee tracking. When the trekking is finished, we take a lunch break and then proceed to Huye for a cultural tour.

    Stop At: Ethnographic Museum Rwanda, Rn1, Huye Rwanda
    The history of Rwanda is not just the tragic genocide against the Tutsi as Rwanda has very rich cultural history and traditions. The National museum is considered the best in the region and provides insights into the evolution of the Kingdom of Rwanda from its inception until today. The museums takes visitors through the archaeological and cultural journey as well as the social-economical transformation of the ancient kingdom of Rwanda. The museum has a wonderful architectural structure and its halls displays ancient artifacts and geological collections.

    Stop At: Exploring Nyanza culture and history, Nyanza Rwanda
    Nyanza is was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Rwanda and hosts the traditional king's palace. This tour last about an hour and covers the architecture, traditions and rituals in the court of Rwanda's king. We also get to visit the majestic Rwandan cows with long horns locally called Inyambo.

    Day 6: Rwanda Traditional Food Tour

    Stop At: YAMBI Tours & Adventures, KK 722 ST, Gikondo, Rebero, opposite Rujugiro House, Kigali 1302 Rwanda
    This is a day of relaxation. We start our food tour at 9AM and head to the local grocery market for shopping. This food adventures gives you an opportunity to discover the local flavours while exploring the culture and lifestyle of Rwandans. With a focus on street fare, local specialities, home cooking and urban food culture, this tour offers the authentic local experience that Yambi is famous for, with an emphasis on cuisine.

    Our talented local guides are happy to share mouthwatering delights, and stories of food, history, and culture. Visit the best places to eat and shop, discovering hidden gems that only locals know!

    Day 7: Transfer to Akagera Park, boat trip on Lake Ihema & Night Safari Drive

    Stop At: IMIGONGO ART CENTER and Cafe Quick Food, Kayonza, Rwanda
    In morning after your breakfast, you will drive to Akagera National Park for a safari game drive but we will stop for an hour at a Imigongo Art center for a traditional art worshop on how to make the Rwandan Imigongo art paintings.

    Stop At: Akagera National Park, Akagera National Park, Eastern Province
    You will experience the excitement of an African wildlife safari in Akagera national game park. The safari provides an opportunity to spot zebras, giraffes, elephant, buffalo, topi, zebra, waterbuck, impala, hippos, crocodiles and (if lucky) lions, leopards and rhinos.

    A boat trip on Lake Ihema will help drift along the forest-fringed lake edge, past huddles of hippo and basking crocodiles. We will then enjoy a short game drive before returning to our safari lodge. After dinner, we will join the night safari drive which usually takes a couple hours max.

    Day 8: Wildlife Safari game drive & Transfer to Kigali

    Pass By: Akagera National Park, Akagera National Park, Eastern Province
    After our morning breakfast, we collect our picnic lunch and start our game drive at 7AM. Within short time, you will be able to see the giraffes, Impalas, Topis, the Zebras, bush bucks, African swallows, eland, the vervet monkeys, warthogs, baboons, Mongoose, the hippos, the crocodiles, as well as the elephants. There are over 120 elephants in the park and the other mammals also include; the fefassa waterbuck, the oribi, reedbucks, the roan antelopes, sable, buffalos and many more.

    Stop At: Lake Muhazi -Community Museum of Technology -Rwanda, Kigali Rwanda
    The game drives usually ends around 4PM. We then exit the park, drive about an hour and take a short break at Lake Muhazi which is on our way to Kigali.
