The gravel roads, or dirt roads, that can be traveled with modern gravel bikes - are the ideal habitat for Abruzzo. There are numerous white roads that the region offers, allowing you to discover and get to know the centenary culture and traditions directly. Walk the dirt roads and brecciated from the sea to the mountains, through a hilly landscape made of vineyards and olive groves, which gently accompanies you to the high peaks of Abruzzo.   • Day 1: Arrival in Sulmona

    Pass By: Sulmona, Sulmona, Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo
    Individual arrival in Sulmona at the host structure. Briefing with the guide and tour preparation. Opportunity to visit the town that presents various historical / cultural emergencies to see as well as the experience of seeing the famous confetti of Sulmona a real international must. Dinner and overnight.

    Day 2: From Sulmona to Rocca di Cambio

    Stop At: Rocca di Cambio, Rocca di Cambio, Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo
    Stage that will take us to know the Subequana Valley through Prezza, Goriano Sicoli, Castelvecchio Subequo. This first gentle and continuous climb will allow us to admire the valley from above with a splendid panorama and get to Castelvecchio Subequo, one of the places in Abruzzo frequented by Francesco d'Assisi. The medieval village of Castelvecchio Subequo stands on the top of a hill, in the center of the Subequana valley, in the Sirente Velino Regional Park. Dinner and overnight.

    Day 3: From Rocca di Cambio to Assergi / Fonte Cerreto

    Stop At: Assergi, Assergi, Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo
    Today's stage that from the Rocche plateau will lead us to get to know the Aquila area with a view of the Navelli plain and the Gran Sasso. We will cycle into the Sirente Velino Regional Park, also touched in the previous stage, passing through the Pagliare di Tione and Terranera and we will go to the convent of Sant’Angelo, a real gem. We will go down to the valley to pass by the Stiffe Caves and then reach the beautiful old road that climbs from Paganica to Camarda and then to Assergi. We will arrive on the slopes of the Gran Sasso and we will see Cima Giovanni Paolo II in the distance, to testify to the Pope's love for these places. Typical dinner and overnight.

    Day 4: From Assergi / Fonte Cerreto to Pietracamela

    Stop At: Pietracamela, Pietracamela, Province of Teramo, Abruzzo
    Today you cycle towards San Pietro della Ienca, a sanctuary dedicated to Pope Giovanni XXIII °, along an Apennine ridge closed to vehicular traffic, inside the Gran Sasso Monti della Laga National Park. We go to the Teramo side of the Gran Sasso and we will pass the Campotosto Lagpo along the old road of the Park from the Capannelle Pass. After a wonderful descent along the gorges of the Fucino river, we will take the detour to Pietracamela, which we will reach after a beautiful climb that will allow us to see the Teramo side of the Gran Sasso Monti della Laga. Dinner and overnight in this wonderful village.

    Day 5: From Pietracamela to Castilenti

    Stop At: Castilenti, Castilenti, Province of Teramo, Abruzzo
    We immediately lose altitude for about 10 km, we cross the white roads of the Val Vomano up to Montorio and from there we climb in the direction of Cermignano, Cellino Attanasio up to the crossroads with Castilenti, along a road that allows us to admire the badlands with the gaze up to Atri. We are traveling on the PICENO-APRUTINA SS81, the road that once represented the backbone of conjunction between Marche and Abruzzo. A wonderful road that on one side makes you see the Adriatic and on the other the mountain with the Gran Sasso watching us. Dinner in Castilenti and overnight in the vineyard.

    Day 6: From Castilenti to Santo Stefano di Sessanio

    Stop At: Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo
    The Gran Sasso National Park, today will be crossed almost entirely by going up to Penne, flanking the lake of the same name and going up to Farindola, along the Rigopiano / Vado di Sole road, crossed by the bicycles of the Giro d'Italia champions. Today the stage is really beautiful but demanding, especially after the kilometers put in the legs the days before. The beauty of the itinerary, however, will soon make you forget the effort and pedaling through this wonderful National Park makes everything easier. We will arrive in Santo Stefano after bivouacking at the Racollo Refuge and a wonderful dinner will brighten the evening. Overnight.

    Day 7: From Santo Stefano di Sessanio to Sulmona

    Stop At: Bussi sul Tirino, Bussi sul Tirino, Province of Pescara, Abruzzo
    Today is the day of the meeting with Lady Hawks and the Rocca di Calascio which dominates the two valleys. We will go up for this visit and to cross Calascio until we arrive with a steep descent to the Piana di Bussi from where alongside the Tirino River we will see the lake of Capo d'Acqua. This climb was also the scene of the exploits of cycling champions in the recent passage of the Giro d'Italia. After the Tirino river, we will direct our wheels towards Popoli da Bussi to glimpse the arrival and the end of this wonderful link between the Sirente Velino Regional Park and the Gran Sasso Monti della Laga National Park. We will arrive in Sulmona to complete our Gravel tour. End of tour dinner and overnight.
