This High Passes Trek is a perfect showcase of Annapurna Region that follows the unique spots with enchanting nature, breathtaking high passes, majestic massifs and interesting culture and tradition of the local people.

Annapurna 7 Passes trek is one of the most difficult trekking trails of Nepal. The difficulty level of the trek is hard and we do not recommend this trek for the beginners. The physical fitness level required for this trek is high. Similarly, some hiking and trekking experience is required before going on Annapurna 7 Pass trek. All of these passes are situated at a very high altitude and there is a high chance of having altitude sickness. The permits required for the Trek are ACAP permit, TIMS card and Restricted permit of the Nar Phu Valley.

    Day 2: Sightseeing Around Kathmandu Valley & Trek Preparation

    Stop At: Pashupatinath Temple, 44621 Pashupati Nath Road, Kathmandu 44600 Nepal
    Pashupatinath temple is a highly revered temple of Kathmandu valley. There are a lot of places to see around Pashupatinath temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple offers wonderful spiritual experiences and surroundings. It is situated 3 km northwest of Kathmandu on the banks of the Bagmati River, including many holy areas Deupatan, Jaya Bageshwori, Gaurighat (Holy Bath), Kutumbahal, Gaushala, Pingalasthan and Sleshmantak forest. There are around 492 temples, 15 Shivalayas (shrines of Lord Shiva) and 12 Jyotirlinga (phallic shrines) to explore.
    It is also a cremation site on the raised platform along the Bagmati River, where the last rites of Hindus are performed. The total time for Sightseeing around the Pashupatinath temple will be about two hours.

    Stop At: Swayambhunath Temple, Swayamhu Circle Road, Kathmandu 44620 Nepal
    The Swayambhunath temple is one of the holiest Buddhist Chaityas in Nepal, residing in the western part of Kathmandu valley. Swayambhunath also is known as ‘Monkey Temple’. This is the best place to see the entire city, as it is located on the top of the hill. Buddhists and Hindus both perform and worship here. There are a lot of small temples and monasteries to see around Swayambhunath temple. The wonderful views from the Swayambhunath temple are wonderful and it has huge significance as well.

    Stop At: Boudhanath Stupa, Boudh, Kathmandu 44600 Nepal
    The Stupa is belongs to Buddhists. It has great architectural values, ancient Buddhism philosophy and the Historical aspects. This Stupa is made up in a Mandala shaped area and has a giant dome. It is the center hub of Buddhism in Nepal and is surrounded by hundreds of monasteries. Lichchavi rulers renovated the staple during 8th century, which has made on the shape of a Mandala. This is one of the most popular holy sites for Buddhist followers inside the Kathmandu valley. It is one of the important artefacts of Kathmandu valley. The total time spent at this temple will be around one and a half hours.

    This is another major historical places to see in Kathmandu. It offers wonderful places It is impressive and wonderful. There are a lot of places to see in Kathmandu Durbar Square premises. The wonderful temples and cultural sites give astounding experience in the heart of Kathmandu valley. This is the ancient royal palace of Nepal. Many cultural practices performed in this Durbar square. It takes around two hours to visit Kathmandu Durbar Square.

    Day 3: Drive to Tal

    Stop At: Tal, Dharapani 33500, Nepal
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, We drive early through the paved road from Kathmandu until Besisahar. Crossing several iron bridges and a tunnel made by Chinese government building a 50MW hydropower. We arrive at Chamje where will enjoy the waterfall and continue driving through the bumpy road to Tal which is a beautiful village situated at the bank of Marshyangdi River.

    Day 4: Trek to Tilje

    Stop At: Annapurna Region, Annapurna Region, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: About an hour from Taal we come to the village of Khotro (2200m) from where the trail turns east and a steep 2.5-hour long climb up the hill brings us to Naache. From Naache the trail starts descending for about 30 min before reaching a very newly established 130 m long suspension bridge across a 200m deep gorge. The trail continues along the pine forest from here. A little further on the trail meets a gravel road until we come to a small suspension bridge across the Dudhkholariver to arrive at the village of Tilje.

    Day 5: Trek to Tachai

    Stop At: Annapurna Region, Annapurna Region, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, we start our walk today through the village today and cross a small bailey bridge and continue walking for another 20 minutes. After the short detour, we continue walking through the pine forest and cornfields to arrive at a suspension bridge. We continue walking through the forest for another 1 hr to arrive at Tachai. The village also has hot spring water flowing 20 minutes’ walk from the village.

    Day 6: Trek to Shongle

    Stop At: Annapurna Region, Annapurna Region, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, we walk with a beautiful view of the surrounding villages of Ghelinchok. Our walk today will be strenuous as we ascend uphill from the village itself for about two and a half hours. We arrive at the saddle of Chonga Dada (3282m). we descend through the pine forest to meet the Chonga River. We continue our path by the river upstream with gradual uphill and cross the river through a small wooden bridge. As we gain altitude, we continue our walk through pine and rhododendron forest to arrive Shongle.

    Day 7: Trek to Kuchumro Phedi

    Stop At: Annapurna Region, Annapurna Region, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, the trail disappears into the rugged mountain in the northeast. As we clamber up the rocks towards the first of our passes, you can see the Annapurna range in the distant west. About 45 minutes on we come to a small shepherd hut. We continue our climb towards Kuchumro Phedi.

    Day 8: Trek to Namakyu via Kuchumro Pass and Yarcha Pass

    Stop At: Annapurna Region, Annapurna Region, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, We start our day with a view of Manasalu towards the east and Lamjung and Annapurna towards the west. 3 Hours of walk brings us to the top. We are rewarded with amazing views of Manasalu and Lamjung range as we make a pass of Kuchumro (4900m), we walk down about 30 minutes to start uphill to cross the Yarcha pass (4860m). As we cross Yarcha pass, we are rewarded by the views of Kangaru Himal and Annapurna II. We continue walking downhill to arrive at Namakyu.

    Day 9: Trek to Meta via Meta Pass

    Stop At: Annapurna Region, Annapurna Region, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, we walk for about 10 minutes uphill and then descend for another 15 minutes to cross a small glacial river. We cross the river for gradual uphill facing Annapurna II the whole time and keeping Kangaru Himal at the back. As we ascend for 2 hrs. we are greeted by the views of Pisang peak standing majestically above the Pisang monastery from where we take a gradual walk all the time facing Pisang peak directly in front of us. We arrive at the Meta pass (4635m). we start to descend towards Meta. It’s a long downhill from Meta pass to Meta with almost 4 hrs. We arrive at a river with a small bridge from where we start to ascend further an hr to reach Meta.

    Day 10: Trek to Phu

    Stop At: Fu, Nepal
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, we start with a gradual easy walk with a view of Pisang monastery on the other side of the hill. We come across a Khampa settlement at Jhunum after 1.5 hrs. We walk further with gradual uphill and then descend to arrive at a small bailey bridge to cross the river from where we start ascending for about 20 minutes to arrive at Kyang. Another Khampa settlement at the valley between huge rugged stone mountains. We continue on this trail with Phu River on the left side for another 3 hrs to meet a wooden bridge. As we approach the final descent for the Phu, we arrive at the big canyon from where a straight uphill of 15 minutes brings us to the gate of Phu village and another 30 minutes’ walk brings us to Phu village.

    Day 11: Trek to Loang via Phu Pass

    Stop At: Annapurna Region, Annapurna Region, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: We start our trek through the village of Phu and start climbing walking through the scree field to gain about 1000m above the Phu village. Continue walking will bring us to the viewpoint from where the Himlung, Bhrikuti and Kangaru Himal are visible quite prominently. The Phu pass is another 1 hour of moderate walk. We cross the Phu pass and start our descend to arrive at the base of the hill to cross a small wooden bridge and start descending for another 1 hour to arrive Loang.

    Day 12: Trek to Chekchu via Nar Pass

    Stop At: Annapurna Region, Annapurna Region, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: We start our trek ascending towards the Nar pass. The view of Himlung and Kangaru Himal stays with us along our way till Nar pass (5400m) which takes about 3 hours of walk. As we approach the pass, the scree fields make it rather challenging to reach the pass. However, when we reach the top, we are greeted with 360-degree views of the mountains including Bhrikuti, Himlung, Kangaru towards the east and Chulu and Annapurna range towards the south west.we descend from here to lose about 1400m through the scree field to arrive at Chekchu.

    Day 13: Trek to Nar Village

    Stop At: Nar, Nepal
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, we start to descend for about 1 hour until we reach a suspension bridge from where we start to ascend towards the Nar village for another 2 hrs to reach the top. From here we continue for another 20 minutes to arrive in a small valley with surround big hills with cave formed on the top of it. A steep uphill here for another 3 hrs will bring us to the beautiful Nar village.

    Day 14: Trek to Kang La Phedi

    Pass By: Nar, Nepal
    At 07:00 AM: we can visit the Nar Village and the surrounding after breakfast. We will leave Nar village after lunch, taking an easy walk from Nar through the Pisang valley with Pisang peak on the left side and other snow-capped mountains on the right. We arrive at the Kang La Phedi after 3 hrs.of walk.

    Day 15: Trek to Ngawal via Kang La Pass

    Stop At: Ngawal 33500, Nepal
    At 05:00 AM: We begin early morning today towards the Kang La pass in order to reach early for great views of the Pisang peak and Chulu Far East peak before heading down to Ngawal. We start our walk crossing a small glacial stream. We ascend gradually to the top ridge of Kang La for 3 hrs. The top of Kang La offers amazing views of Annapurna, Chulu range, Lamjung Himal. We descend from the Kang La pass through the scree field with wide valley and an amazing view of the landscape. The descend takes about 3 hrs to reach Ngawal.

    Day 16: Acclimatization and Rest Day

    Stop At: Ngawal 33500, Nepal
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, we walk around the village of Ngawal and meeting local people and interacting with them. This small village has a population of roughly 300 people is one of the seven village development committees in Manang district of Northern Nepal.

    Day 17: Trek to Manang

    Stop At: Manang, Manang, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: After breakfast, we continue along the south side of the river, the trail includes a long climb over a ridge which passes through Upper Pisang via Ngawal as it guarantees outstanding views of Mt. Annapurna, Pisang Peak. On the way, we pass through pine forests, villages such as Braga and farming terraces. As we walk near Manang, the climate becomes more cold and dry.

    Day 18: Trek to Ledar

    Stop At: Ledar, Tanki Manang 33500, Nepal
    At 07:00 AM: We continue our trail that ascents towards the Thorong La pass as we climb steadily through Tenki and leaving Marshyangdi Valley. As we continue along the Jarsang Khola Valley. we arrive at Ledar.

    Day 19: Trek to Phedi

    Stop At: Phedi, Nepal
    At 07:00 AM: The day begins with an ascent up the valley and back down to cross the Jarsang Khola. From here a steep climb brings us up to the Phedi. The area becomes wilder and you can feel the adventurous spirit.

    Day 20: Trek to Muktinath via Thorong La Pass

    Stop At: Muktinath, Muktinath, Dhaulagiri Zone, Western Region
    At 05:00 AM: we will start early for the crossing of the challenging Thorong La Pass, to avoid the strong winds at the pass after midday. We will climb steeply up towards a watercourse before climbing through another large gully formed by the melt of Thorong Peak. From there we will continue climbing across undulating moraine towards the top of the Thorong Pass. After reaching an altitude of 5,416 meters at Thorong-La. You can catch the best views of the northern Annapurna, Damodar, Bhrikuti and Dhaulagiri range of mountains from Thorong La. From the top, we will descend steeply towards the grassy meadows and further to a very important pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists – Muktinath. This will be the longest day in terms of trekking.

    Stop At: Thorong La Pass, Manang - 02, Thorong la, Manang 33500 Nepal
    Situated at an elevation of 5,416 meters above sea level Thorong La pass is the highest pass of the Annapurna circuit. Similarly, it is one of the highest passes and last pass of the Annapurna 7 pass trek. After crossing the Thorong La pass from the Manang district of Nepal you will reach the Mustang district. Meanwhile, Muktinath is the first place of the Mustang district you will spend night after crossing this high pass.

    An early morning start is needed to cross the Thorong La pass in order to avoid the cold wind. During the time of sunrise, the weather is warm and after a few hours of sunrise, the wind makes trekkers difficult to cross the Thorong La Pass. Thorong Phedi situated at an altitude of 4,600 meters above sea level is the last human settlement area before reaching Muktinath from Manang district. Fascinating views of the Annapurna, Damodar, Bhirkuti, Dhaulagiri and many other mountain ranges can be seen during the day.

    Day 21: Trek to Jomsom

    Stop At: Jomsom, Jomsom, Dhaulagiri Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: Muktinath temple is the ultimate destination for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. The temple is home to waterspouts where fresh water pours out channelled from the streams above the temple. After spending time at Muktinath temple, we start our journey towards KagBeni where we will have our lunch. Kagbeni is a village that has many memorial stupas and a small monastery. After a lunch break at Kagbeni, we will move towards Jomsom. The trail to Jomsom from Kagbeni cuts through windy areas on the Kali Gandaki Valley Jomsom is the main administrative centre and headquarter of Mustang.

    Day 22: Flight to Pokhara

    Stop At: Pokhara, Pokhara, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    At 07:00 AM: Today about 30 minutes morning flight takes us to Pokhara from Jomsom. Once we arrived at Pokhara airport, we then drive to the hotel. The rest of the day will be free and relaxed. Take a sightseeing tour around Pokhara valley if you are interested.

    Day 23: Drive to Kathmandu

    Stop At: Kathmandu, Kathmandu, Kathmandu Valley, Bagmati Zone, Central Region
    At 07:00 AM: It takes approximately four to five hours drive to reach Kathmandu from Pokhara. We drive over the Prithvi Highway which offers scenic hilly zigzag roads while driving along the banks of Trishuli River. The daily activities of the local people can be seen along the road when we pass through numerous villages and towns before finally arriving back to Kathmandu. You will get shopping time in Kathmandu and we will have a farewell Nepali dinner together.
