Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Chitwan Excursion

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the preferred trekking destinations in Nepal one of the best trekking trail also known as Ghorepani Poonhill trek suitable for the moderate trekkers also referred to as ABC. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek starts with a short drive from Pokhara to Nayapul from where the trekking starts and goes through Ulleri, Ghorepani, Poonhill, Tadapani, Chhomrong, Bamboo and Deurali before reaching ABC. Waking up at ABC will be one of the most memorable mornings of your life since the oval shape of ABC is surrounded by mountains and offers a magnificent sunrise.   • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

    You will be welcomed at Kathmandu International airport, and transferred to your hotel in Thamel. The rest of the day you have time to explore the area. In the afternoon, you will have a briefing at your hotel lobby where you receive all necessary information regarding your trip.

    Day 2: Kathmandu full-day sightseeing

    Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara by A/C tourist bus, and free time at Lake Side

    Day 4: From Pokhara to Nayapul and start hiking to Ulleri (driving duration: 1.5 hours, hiking duration: 5-6 hours)

    Stop At: Ulleri, Bhuktangle 33700, Nepal
    In the morning, our guide will receive you and then drive you to Nayapul, which acts as the gateway to most of the destinations in Annapurna region. From Nayapul, you will start hiking to Ulleri. As you ascend, you’ll see many terraced farm fields along the hills and the fresh air gushing in your face makes for a pleasant hike as you enjoy the landscape. After a while, you’ll reach Tikhedhunga and from there, the trail is hard and straight uphill until you reach Ulleri.

    Day 5: Hike from Ulleri to Ghorepani (hiking duration: 6-7 hours)

    Stop At: Ghorepani, Ghorepani, Dhaulagiri Zone, Western Region
    Continuing our trek, we head towards the forest and slowly on ward to, Ghorepani. The trail is much easier than the day before and much enjoyable as we pass through amazing rhododendron and pine forests while crossing little bridges. Hiking for some time, we’ll reach the Nangethathi low and further on to Ghorepani village. From upper Ghorepani, we could observe great view of the magnificent Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167 m) and many more mountains.

    Day 6: Hike from Ghorepani, via Poonhill to Tadapani (hiking duration: 6-7 hours)

    Stop At: Poon Hill, Histan Mandali 33200, Nepal
    In the early morning you will start trekking from Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210m) and then to Tadapani (2650m). You will begin the trek to Poon hill (3210m) in the early morning to catch the first ray of sunlight. The pleasant sunrise at Poonhill trek passes through culturally rich villages that are set against the background of majestic mountains. Along with sunrise view over Mt. Annapurna, Poonhill also offers panoramic views of several mountains including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountains. You will return and have your breakfast at Ghorepani, and then commence trek to Tadapani (2650 m). The trek will begin through the thick forest of rhododendrons, bamboos and oaks. One can observe and appreciate nature’s beauty; waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, birds and green valleys.

    Day 7: Hike from Tadapani to Chhomrong (hiking duration: 5-6 hours)

    Stop At: Chhomrong, Ghandruk 33700, Nepal
    From Tadapani, we descend down and cross Kimrung river. Then, we walk alongside the rice fields and little settlement beside the river bank and then ascend to reach Chhomrong. From Chhomrong, we have a fantastic view of Fishtail and Annapurna South.

    Day 8: Hike from Chhomrong to Bamboo (hiking duration: 6-7 hours)

    Stop At: Chhomrong, Ghandruk 33700, Nepal
    We start our hike with a steep way down until we cross the Chhomrong Khola River. After the bridge, we climb up to reach Sinuwa. After some rest, we continue our walk through the rocky steps and beautiful bamboo forests. We reach the settlement Bamboo (2300 m) in the early afternoon. Bamboo is famous for its large Lemurs colonies and with a little luck; we can see one of them in the trees around our lodge.

    Day 9: Bamboo – Deurali (3220 m), Hiking Duration: 5/6 hours

    Stop At: Deurali 33700, Nepal
    We start our hike to Deurali through Dovan village and the Himalayan hotel while crossing beautiful rhododendron and bamboo forests. After a little settlement called Hotel Himalaya, there is a steep climb up through a much drier forest before reaching Hinku Cave. From here, we can see the trail drop closer to the river before climbing again to Deurali (2920 m).

    Day 10: Deurali – Annapurna Base Camp (4130 m), Hiking Duration: 5/6 hours

    Stop At: Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Pokhara 33700 Nepal
    Continuing our trekking, the trail goes alongside the beautiful Modi Khola River. On the way, we have an amazing view of the holy mountain of Machhapuchre (Fishtail) which changes its shape the closer we come. After ascending for about 40 minutes we reach MBC. Catching our breath, we then continue our hike to ABC, this setting of the Annapurna Base Camp is absolutely unique and incredibly spectacular. It is also called Annapurna Sanctuary because of its oval-shaped plateau which is surrounded by a ring of mountains. Arriving at ABC we find ourselves face to face with the magical Annapurna I (8091 m). The sunrise there is truly breathtaking and worth every step.

    Day 11: Annapurna Base Camp ABC (Rest Day)

    Day 12: ABC- MBC - Bamboo, Hiking Duration: 6-7 hours

    We find ourselves face to face with the magical Annapurna I (8091 m). the oval shape of the so-called sanctuary will give you amazing views of the surrounding mountains which makes it a morning you will never forget. The sunrise and views at ABC cannot be compared to anything else in the world. After breakfast at ABC, we go back to MBC and descend to Bamboo.

    Day 13: Bamboo – Jhinu Danda (1780 m), Hiking duration: 7/8 hours

    Stop At: Jhinu Danda, Ghandruk 33700, Nepal
    Leaving Bamboo, we continue our walk on the same trail which we used before to reach Chhomrong. We leave our previous path and walk steeply down to a nice place called Jhinu Danda. We leave our bags in the lodge and climb down to the take a relaxing bath in the hot springs of the Modi Khola River.

    Day 14: Jhinu Danda to Pokhara via Syauli, Hiking Duration: 6 hours, Drive Duration: 2 hours

    Stop At: Pokhara, Pokhara, Gandaki Zone, Western Region
    On the last day of the trek, we start walking through a beautiful landscape with many little villages and terraced rice fields. We enjoy the flora of the region and meet numerous colorful butterflies on our way. Walk almost ninety minutes to get to Kyumi and again from Kyumi walk to Syauli Bazar. From Syauli Bazaar walk two more hours to get to Nayapul. Our Annapurna Base Camp Trek officially ends here at Nayapul. We arrive in Nayapul in the late afternoon where we take a car back to Pokhara.

    Day 15: Chitwan drive & Activities drive duration:5-6 hours

    Stop At: Chitwan National Park, Chitwan National Park, Chitwan District, Narayani Zone, Central Region
    Today, we drive to Chitwan National Park. You will visit the Tharu village and enjoy their traditional culture and interactions with locals. You will enjoy the tea made by the Tharu community in clay teapot. Later on, enjoy the Tharu stick dance and dhaan naach. You will enjoy the beautiful sunset relaxing at riverside offering a glimpse of birds and wild animals.

    Day 16: Chitwan Activities

    Today we will walk around the jungle and we will commence deep down in the forest in the local jeep to trace the footprints of the tiger. Get ready to get another glimpse of the one-horned rhino, Asian elephant, Spotted Deer (Chital), Barking Deer, Hog Deer, Samber, Swamp Deer, Black Buck, Bull, Wild Boar, Wild Dog, Leopard, and many other wild animals. After completing the jungle safari, we will head for the canoe trip. You will canoe ride along the Rapti river. You will see the varieties of birds in the river along with the canoe trip.

    Day 17: Chitwan – Kathmandu Drive duration: 6-7 hours

    You will drive from Chitwan to Kathmandu. On the way, you can see the beautiful hills and slopes. Later, you can stroll through the streets of Thamel for shopping. You can also buy souvenirs for your friends and family.

    Day 18: Sightseeing in Patan & Bhaktapur.

    Stop At: Patan Durbar Square, Patan (Lalitpur) 44700 Nepal
    Today, you’ll be driven to one of the ancient cities inside Kathmandu valley i.e. Patan Durbar Square for sightseeing. In Patan, you will be visiting other UNESCO World Heritage sites: Krishna Temple and Patan Durbar Square. Later on, visit the Patan Museum, where you can learn more about the history of Patan and the kings who reigned here. Later, visit the Golden Temple, a major attraction for both Hindu and Buddhist people, and Banglamukhi Temple.

    Then after we will be visiting Bhaktapur, you will be amazed by the architecture, as until today the city has been able to be kept intact in its old form. You can observe the old wood carved buildings all around Bhaktapur. Explore the surroundings and afterward visit the Nyatapola Temple, one of the biggest temples in Nepal. Here, you can also take the pottery making class using the traditional methods.
