Day 3: DAY 3: PUCACOCHA - AUSANGATE STEP - MINASNIYUQ STEP - SURINE COCHA

Pass By: Ausangate, Calle los Olivos - Santa Rora - Cusco, Cusco 08002 Peru
This day you will be awakened with "room service" (a hot cup of coca tea). This is going to be one of the most beautiful days of the walk. We will see rainbow mountains in the distance. Also, on today's trip, we will pass through the town of Alccatauri. The day begins with a 1½ hour uphill climb until you reach the Ausangate Pass (4,930 m). On this pass, we will see red mountains and also have the opportunity to see vicunas, chinchillas and alpacas.
After enjoying, we go down 1 hour and a half until we reach the town of Alccatauri (4,400 m). Here we will observe the customs and traditional life of the Andean people. There are no trees in the area, so there is no wood to make houses. The residents are very enterprising and make their mud mud houses and also fire with natural fuel, dung, animal manure. Here we will perform an Andean barter activity. In exchange for your generous and hospitality, we will offer you the coca leaves. This is very valuable because this Peruvian staple food cannot be grown in this climate.
After this incomparable experience, we will walk about 30 minutes uphill to our lunch spot in a rustic hostel. After a delicious lunch, we will begin our journey uphill until the second step. After 1½ hours, we will follow the path to Minasniyoq Pass. Here we will have our first views of the rainbow mountains (5,020 m / 16,469 feet). In this step, we will make a small offering to the Pacha Mama (Mother Earth). To reach our campsite next to the Surine Cocha lagoon (4,800 m)
