  • Day 1: Arrival in Paro / Thimpu (55 Kms / 1 ½ hrrs)

    Pass By: Thimphu, Thimphu, Thimphu District
    Arrive in Paro. On arrival, you will be greeted and assisted by our representative and drive to Thimpu.

    Thimphu – The capital town of Bhutan and the centre of government, religion and commerce, Thimphu is a unique city with unusual mixture of modern development alongside ancient traditions. Although not what one expects from a capital city, Thimphu is still a fitting and lively place. Home to civil servants, expatriates and monk body, Thimphu maintains a strong national character in its architectural style.

    On arrival in Thimpu, transfer to hotel.

    Stop At: Buddha Dordenma, Kuenselphodrang, Thimphu, Bhutan
    You can pay your obeisance and offer prayers to the Buddha, the largest statue in the country and then walk around and take a glimpse of the valley.
    Duration: 1 hour

    Stop At: Tashichho Dzong, Thimphu, Bhutan
    Visit Trashichhoedzong, “fortress of the glorious religion”. This is the center of government and religion, site of monarch’s throne room and seat of Je Khenpo or Chief Abbot. Built in 1641 by the political and religious unifier of Bhutan, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, it was reconstructed in 1960s in traditional Bhutanese manner, without nails or architectural plans.

    Day 2: Thimpu

    Stop At: Tango Gompa, Bhutan
    After breakfast enjoy the Excursion to Tango Gompa (It is about 20 minutes drive from the hotel to motor able road and from this point enjoy the beautiful walk, which is about 1 hour walk- One Way.) This monastery was founded by Lama gyalwa Lhanangpa in the 12th century and the present building was built in the 15th century by the ‘Divine Madman’, Lama Drukpa Kunley. In 1616 Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal visited Tango and meditated in a cave near the monastery. His meditation helped ensure the defeat of an invading Tibetan army. The head Lama, a descendent of Lama Drukpa Kunley presented the goemba to Shabdrung, who carved a sandalwood statue of Chenrezig which he installed in the monastery.

    Stop At: Thimphu Chorten (Memorial Chorten), Thimphu Bhutan
    After this beautiful walk drive back to Thimphu and enjoy the sightseeing of Thimpu.

    National Library (Closed on Saturday & Sunday) housing an extensive collection of priceless Buddhist manuscripts; the Institute for Zorig Chusum (Closed on Saturday & Sunday) (commonly known as the Painting School) where students undergo a 6-year training course in Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts

    Memorial Chorten - Memorial chorten Thimphu BhutanThis stupa was built in 1974 in the memory of Bhutan's third King, His Late Majesty, King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, who is popularly regarded as Father of modern Bhutan. The paintings and statues inside the monument provide a deep insight into Buddhist philosophy.

    Stop At: Thimphu, Thimphu, Thimphu District
    Later visit Textile and Folk Heritage Museum (Closed on Saturday & Sunday) a fascinating testimony of the Bhutanese material culture and living traditions.

    Then, visit the government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts shops, to browse through example of Bhutan's fine traditional arts. Here you can buy hand-woven textiles, Thangkha paintings, masks, ceramics, slate and wood carvings, jewellery, interesting items made from local materials

    Day 3: Thimpu / Punakha (Wangdue) (75 Kms – 3 Hrs drive)

    Stop At: Dochula Pass, Thimphu Bhutan
    After breakfast drive to Punakha with a short stop at Dochula pass (3,080m) stopping briefly here to take in the view and admire the chorten, mani wall, and prayer flags which decorate the highest point on the road. If skies are clear, the following peaks can be seen from this pass (left to right): Masagang (7,158m), Tsendagang (6,960m), Terigang (7,060m ), Jejegangphugang (7,158 m ), Kangphugang (7,170 m ), Zongphugang (7, 060 m ), a table mountain that dominates the isolated region of Lunana - finally Gangkar puensum, the highest peak in Bhutan at 7,497m

    Stop At: Chimi Lhakhang Temple, Punakha Bhutan
    Enjoy walking excursion to Chimi Lhakhang (Approx 30 – 45 minutes)

    Before entering Punakha town en route a short 30 / 45 min walking excursion to Chimi Lhakhang.

    The Chimi Lhakhang, situated on a hillock in the centre of the valley, is dedicated to Lama Drukpa Kuenley, who in the late 15th century used humour, songs and outrageous behavior to dramatise his teachings and due to this also known as "Divine Madman". This temple is also known as the temple of fertility. It is widely believed that couples who do not have children and wanting one, if they pray at this temple, they are usually blessed with a child very soon. It is about 30 minute walk across field from the road to the temple. The trail leads across rice fields to the tiny settlement of Pana, meaning "field". It then follows a tiny stream downhill to Yoaka and across more fields before making a short climb to Chimi Lhakhang.

    Duration: 45 minutes

    Stop At: Punakha Dzong, Punakha 13001 Bhutan
    Arrive Punakha and transfer to the Hotel.

    Later visit Punakha Dzong, built strategically at the junction of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the religious and administrative centre of the region, Punakha Dzong has played an important role in Bhutan’s history. Damaged by four catastrophic fires and an earthquake, the Dzong has now been fully restored

    Day 4: Punakha / Paro (125 Kms around 04 to 04 ½ hrs drive)

    Stop At: Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, Punakha Bhutan
    After breakfast, enjoy walking excursion to Regal Khamsum Yulley and Namgyal Chorten (stupa): This beautiful hike of approx 2 hours roundtrip, takes one to the regal Khamsum Yuelley Namgel Chorten, which was built to remove negative forces and promote peace, stability and harmony in the changing world. The Chorten dominates the upper Punakha Valley with commanding views across the Mo Chhu river and up towards the mountainous peaks of Gasa and beyond.

    Later drive to Paro.

    Stop At: The Royal Heritage Museum (Tower Of Trongsa, Ta-Dzong), Paro-Samdrupjongkhar Road, Trongsa, Bhutan
    On arrival in Paro, transfer to the hotel.

    Later enjoy the visit of Ta Dzong - One time watch tower built to defend Rinpung Dozng during inter-valley wars of the 17th century, since 1967 Ta Dzong is serving as the National Museum of the country. It holds fascinating collection of art, relics, religious thangkha paintings and Bhutan's exquisite postage stamps. The museum circular shape augments its varied collection displayed over several floors.

    Stop At: Kyichu Lhakhang, Lamgong Gewog, Paro 12001 Bhutan
    It is one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom dating back to 7th century (the other is Jambey Lhakahng in Bumthang). The lhakhang complex is composed of two temples. The first temple was built by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century and in 1968, H.M. Ashi Kesang, the Queen Mother of Bhutan, built the second temple in original pattern.

    Day 5: Paro

    Stop At: Paro Taktsang, Taktsang Trail BT, Paro Bhutan
    After breakfast, excursion to Taktsang Monastery. It is one of the most famous of Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is called ‘Tiger’s Nest’. This site has been recognized as a most sacred place and visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646 and now visited by all Bhutanese at least once in their lifetime. On 19 April, 1998, a fire severely damaged the main structure of building but now this Bhutanese jewel has been restored to its original splendour.

    Visit to a traditional farm house and dinner with local family - The beauty of Bhutan is embellished by cluster of quaint farm houses. Bhutanese farm houses are very colorful, decorative and traditionally built with mud and stones and without the use of single nail. All houses follow the same architectural pattern. A visit to Farm House & interaction with locals is very interesting and offers a good glimpse into the lifestyle of village folks. Tea / Coffee with local family, during this visit is also provided.
