Here has been launched first diligences and trams; in 19th century, it has been the first street with asphalt and street lamps. Now it remains one of the most prominent streets of the city.

From 1953 to 1961 the body of Stalin was also kept in the mausoleum and it was renamed “The Mausoleum of Lenin and Stalin”.
