As the urban heart of the city, the Historic Center becomes important because it is a sector that, as a result of the earthquakes and fires that demolished a large part of its buildings in the past, was urbanized, flourished and standardized with a republican architecture. These events reinforced the improvement of experimental construction systems and elements such as bahareque. In this sense it can be said that the center of Manizales, declared a National Monument in 1996, was reborn with bahareque skin. Thus, thanks to the reconstruction process of the city of Manizales, its Historic Center is one of the largest republican architecture complexes in the country and for this reason we propose a guided tour through its streets.
The historic center is made up of Plaza Bolívar, The Sanz Building, Archbishop's Palace, Manizales Cathedral, Caldas Governorate and Estrada House.
