    Learn about one of Dublin's oldest areas. Originally occupied by Vikings a thousand years ago this was the location of Dublin's greatest archeology dig when large numbers of artefacts. In medieval times, this was part of a lively area known as "Hell" which got its name from a tavern of the same name that operated in the crypt of nearby Christ Church Cathedral. This area was well known for its lively nightlife with brothels & raucous taverns all operating in the shadow of the cathedral.
