  • Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal

    Stop At: Kathmandu Valley, Kathmandu Valley, Bagmati Zone, Central Region
    On your arrival, one of our friendly staff members will greet you outside the arrivals area. Look for the Namaste Treks & Expeditions sign. We will then transfer you to the host hotel where you will get settled into your room.

    Day 2: Sight seeing around Kathmandu valley.

    Stop At: Kathmandu, Kathmandu, Kathmandu Valley, Bagmati Zone, Central Region
    Our second day will be spent on a half-day sightseeing trip around the Kathmandu valley. We will visit three different spots including Swyambhunath (also known as monkey temple), Boudhanath and Pashupatinath. Pick up will be around 9:00 am after breakfast. The other half of the day will be yours to explore!

    Day 3: Drive to Ramechhap and flight to Lukla

    Stop At: Lukla, Lukla, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Region
    With an early morning start, we will make the five-hour drive by bus to the city of Ramechhap. It's here we will catch our flight to the bustling village of Lukla. After our short 20-minute flight, we will gear up and head out on the trail to the village of Phakding.

    Day 4: Namche Bazaar

    Stop At: Namche Bazaar, Namche Bazaar, Khumbu, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Region
    We continue trekking along the banks of the Dudh Koshi, crossing this majestic river many times on exciting suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. After entering Sagamartha National Park, the trail climbs steeply with breathtaking views. Namche Bazaar known as the Gateway to Everest is home to many quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, money exchanges, internet cafes, and bakeries. Namche is one of the biggest villages along the whole Everest trail.

    Day 5: Namche Bazzar, Rest day

    Stop At: Namche Bazaar, Namche Bazaar, Khumbu, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Region
    This is essentially a day of rest at Namche in order to acclimatize our bodies to the elevation. You will have the opportunity to hike to Khumjung village (3,786m) and explore monasteries and local Sherpa villages. Namche itself is a famous village with some modern facilities.

    Day 6: Tengboche

    Stop At: Tengboche, Tengboche, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Region
    We start our trek with a pleasant walk through the forest with a magnificent view of the mountains. We follow a spectacular path that traverses around the hillside high above the Dudh Kosi River. After walking for one hour you will arrive in Phunki Thanga. The trail climbs past water-powered prayer wheels and begins a sustained climb through a forest of tall, mature rhododendrons. Look out for musk deer and Himalayan Tahr among the trees. Tengboche is scattered across a wide, grassy saddle below a crescent-shaped ridge covered by scrub pines and firs. From the viewpoint at the top of the hill, there are awe-inspiring views of distinctive peaks like Ama Dablam (6856m), Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7861m), and Lhotse (8501m). In the afternoon we will visit the Buddhist Monastery at Tengboche, the largest in the Khumbu region.

    Day 7: Pheriche

    Stop At: Pheriche - Dughlha Road, Pheriche - Dughlha Rd, Khumjung 56000, Nepal
    In the morning the views of the surrounding mountains and monasteries are spectacular in Tengboche. From Tengboche, we head north and soon cross the Dudh Kosi river by way of a small suspension bridge which spans a deep chasm in the river valley. Follow the trail as far as Orsho and take the lower path along the west bank of the Imja Khola, through the forest of birches conifers and rhododendrons. As we follow the river northward the trail passes by several chortens, mani walls, and small villages. Today's walk offers views of the Mt.Tawache, Ama Dablam and to the north Pokalde (5741m), Kongma-Tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse. Dingboche is also the gateway to Chukkung and farther beyond for the most challenging traverses towards Makalu area. We enjoy the beautiful array of fields enclosed by stone walls to protect the barley, buckwheat, and potatoes. Overnight stay in Pheriche.

    Day 8: Pheriche, Rest day

    Stop At: Pheriche - Dughlha Road, Pheriche - Dughlha Rd, Khumjung 56000, Nepal
    This will be our second day of rest. Simply relish and relax in a place of such natural beauty for the day or take a short climb to the top of the ridge and admire three of the six highest peaks in the world including Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyo. Stay overnight.

    Day 9: Lobuche

    Stop At: Lobuche, Khumjung 56000, Nepal
    We continue up the wide valley beneath the impressive peaks of Cholatse and Tawache on the left. We then turn right and take a steep climb towards the foot of the Khumbu Glacier. The tea house at Thukla is a good spot to have lunch. The trail zigzags up through the boulders of the glacier's terminal moraine. At the top of this climb, there are many stone cairns, built as memorials to the many climbers who have died while climbing Mt Everest. The path then climbs gently along the glacier, to eventually reach the cluster of lodges at Lobuche.

    Day 10: Gorak Shep

    Stop At: Gorak Shep, Gorak Shep, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Region
    The first section of the trail from Lobuche follows the narrow gap between the glacial moraine and the mountain walls, past the turnoff to the Italian pyramid. Take time to detour to the edge of the moraine to look over the Khumbu glacier. Along windy and rocky paths with the wonderful view of Mt. Pumori, Nuptse, and other magnificent peaks, we reach Gorak Shep. Once settled into our lodge we will have hot tea and snacks before heading off on the trail towards Everest Base Camp. After our visit to Everest Base Camp, we will return to Gorak Shep for the night.

    Day 11: Pheriche

    Stop At: Pheriche - Dughlha Road, Pheriche - Dughlha Rd, Khumjung 56000, Nepal
    We wake up early for the walk up Kala Patthar (18,100'). It is dark outside with cold temperatures and most likely chilly winds. We walk on a fairly steep trail at a comfortable pace. As we are climbing up the hill we can see Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse mountains. The view from the summit is outstanding. We can see the world’s tallest mountain, Everest along other mighty Himalayan peaks. After spending some time at the summit of Kala Patthar, we will make our way back down to Gorak Shep for lunch. After lunch, we will head off on the trail back down to Pheriche.

    Day 12: Tengbuche

    Stop At: Tengboche, Tengboche, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Region
    From Pheriche we take a slightly different route down to Orsho, then to Pangboche village. Here is the oldest monastery in the region which contains what is said to be the scalp and bones of a 'Yeti'. Leaving mountains behind us, our descent takes us back to the Tengboche Monastery.

    Day 13: Namche Bazzar

    Stop At: Namche Bazaar, Namche Bazaar, Khumbu, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Region
    Leaving mountains behind us, our descent takes us through Tengboche Monastery at an elevation of 3860 meters before continuing back to the village of Namche Bazaar at 3441meters. We arrive back to Namche Bazaar in the afternoon.

    Day 14: Phakding

    Stop At: Phakding, Phakding, Khumbu, Sagarmatha Zone, Eastern Region
    With only two days left on the trail, we make our way down the steep trail from Namche back to the village of Phakding. Taking in the superb landscapes and mountains in the distance, you’ll have the chance to meet and converse with local people in the area.

    Day 15: Lukla

    Stop At: Kathmandu, Kathmandu, Kathmandu Valley, Bagmati Zone, Central Region
    Though we are headed down on our last day on the trail, we have one final climb back up to Lukla. With a fairly short day on the trail back to Lukla, you will have plenty of time to spend exploring the village, shopping, and watching the planes land and take off from the famous Lukla airstrip.

    Day 16: Kathmandu

    We will be up early in the hopes of catching one of the early flights back to Ramechhap. Once we arrive in Ramechhap, we will meet with our driver for the drive back to Kathmandu. Once we arrive in Kathmandu, we will get settled into our rooms and the rest of the day and night will be yours.

    Day 17: Kathmandu

    Your final day in Kathmandu will be yours to explore, shop, eat, get a massage, or a nice hot shave for the gentlemen. Use this day to take in the beauty that the country of Nepal and its people have to offer.

    Day 18: Flights home

No matter the time of your flight, the folks at Namaste Treks & Expeditions will get you to the airport with plenty of time to check your bags, go through immigration and make it to your gate with time to spare.
