Everything Edinburgh Old Town Tour

This is a small group tour (max 25 people) that not only fills you in on the must know stories and history of Edinburgh and it's amazing characters whilst taking in some of the Old Town highlights, but it also helps you orient yourself in the Old Town, get away from the crowds to some lesser seen areas with great views and gives real local insight into places to eat and drink away from the usual tourist spots.

      Stop At: 21 Grassmarket Old Town, Edinburgh EH1 2HS Scotland

      We start and end the tour in the Grassmarket. Now it's a popular area for tourists and locals to eat and drink but you will find out about how this area got it's name and the darker things that went on here back in the day that gave some of their pubs their names.

      Stop At: West Bow Well, Victoria Street, Edinburgh Scotland

      We will walk up the West Bow/Victoria Street, arguably Edinburgh Old Town's prettiest street and also said to be the inspiration for Diagon Alley in Harry Potter. We will also point out some good local places to eat and drink here.

      We stop here to find out about Deacon Brodie, one of the most infamous criminals from Edinburgh's history and we will find out about the famous character he inspired for Robert Louis Stevenson.

      Stop At: St Giles' Cathedral, High Street Historic Royal Mile, Edinburgh EH1 1RE Scotland

      We will stand outside St Giles Cathedral and learn about John Knox, his links to Mary Queen of Scots and her son James which lead to the most read book of all time in English and helped seal the fate of many "witches." Find out if you could have been accused of being a witch back in the day.

      We stop at the Mercat (market) Cross, both a place for announcing news and for administering nasty punishments to those who stole from the market.

      Get away from the crowds to get one of the best views of Edinburgh castle and find out about this amazing castle that sits in the centre of our majestic city and even it's links to Games of Thrones.

      This will be out last stop before returning to where we started, but you will find out about some notorious criminals who used to make money from unfortunate souls who used to drink there.
