Your guide will first take you to the pleasant seaside resort of Saint-Maxim. By car, you will drive about 2 hours on the motorway. The old town with colorful facades and cobbled alleyways is a refuge from the sun beating down on the nearby beaches. The vibrant pedestrian centre is full of shady squares, both big and small, refreshing fountains and morning markets laden with tasty-looking produce. The Promenade Simon Lorière affords lovely views over Saint-Tropez. Saint- Maxim has also preserved a rich architectural heritage, boasting 38 period villas built between 1920 and 1940.

Afterwards, head off to the small port of Saint Tropez. Dominated by its citadel, the city is a town which became popular as a stopover for artists during their summer European stay. First came painters, now this former republic owes its worldwide renown essentially to film stars. It was also the birthplace of one of France’s most famous sailors, the Bailliff of Suffren (1729-1788).

You will visit the the Citadelle de Saint-Tropez. For over 400 years, this citadel has watched over the town. For centuries, it was the most important defensive structure between Antibes and Toulon. Remarkably well-preserved, you will admire lovely views over the bay of Saint-Maxim and the Maures, and observe the peacocks who roam freely here.

Do not miss the Maison des Papillons. At the end of a typical alley, there is a door which opens onto a fabulous collection of butterflies (more than 4,500). inside the house owned by the family of the photographer J.-H. Lartigue. His son Dany, a painter and entomologist, put together his collection of species from around the world, presenting them in some really attractive displays.

See a lot of other beautiful places in Saint-Tropez, walk through its streets and you can have some free time to shop in the various boutiques.

If you wanted, you can stay in Saint-Tropez for the dinner or in any other place of your choice (on your own expense).

Finally, your guide will take you back to your hotel in Cannes.
