Mandalay Day Tour in Mingun

Visit Mingun, a town up the Irrawaddy River and only 11km (7 miles) away from Mandalay on the west bank. The town is most visited for the ruined Mingun Pahtodawgyi. Just a couple of hundred yards from the great stupa you will see the Mingun Bell and the Hsinbyume or Myatheindan Pagoda with its distinctive architectural style.

    The Mingun Pahtodawgyi is an incomplete monument stupa in Mingun, approximately 10 kilometers northwest of Mandalay in the Sagaing Region in central Myanmar. The ruins are the remains of a massive construction project begun by King Bodawpaya in 1790 which was intentionally left unfinished.

    The Mingun Bell is a bell located in Mingun, Sagaing Region, Myanmar. It is located in Mingun village north of Mandalay on the western bank of the Irrawaddy River. It was the heaviest functioning bell in the world at several times in history.

    Stop At: Hsinbyume Pagoda, Mingun Myanmar

    Then continue on foot to the white-washed Hsinphymae Pagoda with its notable architecture and history. This is one of the best places in the country for photography and wedding couples often come here to take their pre-wedding photos, a tradition in Myanmar.

    In the afternoon takes on a spiritual note with visits to a distinctive monastery in Mandalay. Shwe In Bin Monastery, the construction of which conforms to the traditional style of Myanmar monastic architecture with its multi-roofed pavilion.

    The next visit is Manamuni Pagoda, where the big Buddha image is venerated. The Mahamuni Buddha Temple (also called the Mahamuni Pagoda) is a Buddhist temple and a major pilgrimage site. Ancient tradition refers to only five likenesses of the Buddha, made during his lifetime; two were in India, two in paradise, and the fifth is the Mahamuni Buddha image in Myanmar. According to the legend, the Buddha visited the Dhanyawadi city of Arakan in 554 B.C. After casting the Great Image, the Buddha breathed upon it, and after that, the image became the exact likeness of the Mahamuni.

    After that visit the area of marble workshops where many kinds of statues like Buddha images, Elephants, lions, Chinese religious icons, and even include Indian religious figures crafted daily.

    Then you will get more experience at the gold leaf making factory how the skillful craftsmen are working.
