In 1158, after converting to the Christian religion, she was baptized, having received the name of Oriana. The mountainous lands received the name of Fátima, and the county, the name of Oriana, that later would become Ourém.

But Fátima is known worldwide because on May 13, 1917, Our Lady appeared to three children (Lúcia Santos, Francisco and Jacinta Marto) who were taking care of the sheep in Cova de Iria. He visited the three shepherds every day between May and October 1917. The last apparition took place on October 13, 1917, being witnessed by 70,000 pilgrims who attended the so-called Miracle of the Sun.
