If it weren’t for Pittsburgh being split by 3 rivers, there’s a good chance there may not be enough water to support this many breweries in one city! From the smallest, newest nano-breweries to independent craft breweries with age-old history, we sought out the brewers who helped bring craft beer to the ‘burgh and focused on developing strong relationships with each of them so we could give you unfettered access to their spaces and suds. Our tour itineraries vary amongst several great breweries including Strange Roots, Allegheny City Brewing, Couch Brewing and other described below.

Stop At: Grist House Brewery, 10 Herman St, Pittsburgh, PA 15223-1846

Kyle Mientkiewicz and Brian Eaton started Grist House like any other craft brewer, with Brian marrying Kyle’s sister – wait – that’s not at all the typical story. It’s true; Kyle and Brian are brothers-in-law who started homebrewing together a decade ago. Much like their startup story, opening Grist House in Millvale in 2012, the brewery has plenty that’s unique. Brian and Kyle want you to feel like their taproom is your home and their oversized Biergarten is your backyard, so bring along old friends or make some new ones while you’re there.
