Tamang Heritage Trail Trek

Tamang Heritage Trail Trek is short, easy & lesser-traveled trails. It is the nearest trekking destination from Kathmandu gives an idea of ancient lifestyles, offers stunning views, and relaxing and healing baths in natural hot springs. The trail offers a panoramic view of the mountains on the Langtang side, Ganesh Himal, Tibet & Tibetan villages. One of the highlights of this trek is the opportunity for a Tibetain homestay in the village of Briddim. The trek is ideal for those sensitive & nonsensitive to high altitudes and wants to experience the high Himalaya. Tamang Heritage Trek Trail passes through Langtang National Park where we observe numerous species of flora & fauna. There is a history of trade and cultural exchange enriched with the local culture and the ritual practices on the border of Nepal and Tibet. Used by ancient traders to trade daily-used commodities, off the beaten trail explores the classic Tamang village that conserves handicraft skills, cultures, and traditions.

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m/4429 ft. ), transfer to hotel

    Pass By: Kathmandu, Kathmandu, Kathmandu Valley, Bagmati Zone, Central Region
    Flying into Kathmandu is a memorable experience. Enjoying the views of marvelous Himalayan ranges along with the world's highest peak Mount Everest while being on this flight. The flight will land at Tribhuwan International Airport after you'll receive the Nepal entry visa takes around 45min, it depends on the number of people in the queue. For further information, click the Nepal govt. official site Department of Immigration Nepal. After exiting from the gate, you'll see our company representative waiting for you withholding a placard written with the company name. The company representative welcomes you by offering the holy Tibetan scarf and transfer to the hotel in a private vehicle, takes around 30min to reach at Thamel. The scenes of Pashupatinath, peoples make our journey more enjoyable and amazing, then we reach the hotel and take rest. Thamel is full of restaurants, shopping centers, and good accommodation. Trek briefing and afterward invited to a host family to welcome dinner.

    Day 2: Free Day in Kathmandu (1350m/4429 ft.), 4hr 30min

    Stop At: Tatopani Hot Spring, Tatopani 33200, Nepal
    We recommend you to take an extra day in Kathmandu on the second day of the trip. Due to several hours of flight travel, physical mentally could be exhaust. Therefore it is an ideal idea to stop a day in Kathmandu before starting your Himalayas trip and prepare for the trip. During the free day at Ktm, you can simply stay relax or to make your day memorable you can do a sightseeing tour on the world's UNESCO Heritage sites or you can do a 1hr Everest Mountain Flight tour or 3h30min Everest Helicopter tour or 1h30min Langtang Helicopter tour, rock climbing, etc.

    Day 3: Scenic drive to Gatlang (2240m/7349.081 ft.), 7-8hr drive

    Stop At: Gatlang, Gatlang, Central Region
    In the initial section, Scenic drive to Gatlang following the Prithvi Highway, soon we will arrive in Trishuli Bazaar. From here the journey begins with ascending on a narrow road. We will observe the views of Ganesh Himal, Gosainkund range and the Goljang valley. Gradually with several ups, downs and passes drive bring us to Gatlang. Gatlang is a traditional village. The old village has a shingle roofing on the house, a great atmosphere with welcoming people.

    Day 4: Trek to Tatopani (2610m/8562.992 ft.), 5-6hr walk

    Stop At: Tatopani Hot Spring, Tatopani 33200 Nepal
    Our initial segment of the trail begins with a gentle descent through the agricultural field with plenty of ancient Mani Walls. Gradually your pleasant journey will bring you to Thangmuche village. The village is inhabited by Tibetan refugees and Tamang ethnic group. From here the journey begins with ascending till Tatopani. Tatopani has a hot spring where we can enjoy a relaxing bath. It is believed the hot spring has the healing capacity and eases away any sort of aches and pains in the body.

    Day 5: Trek to Nagthali (3165m/10383.86 ft.), 4-5hr walk

    Stop At: Thuman, Thuman, Bagmati Zone, Central Region
    Today the route climbs to Nagthali. From the hot spring we will climb up gentle ascend to the forest and the climb continues more steeply to a spur and soon at Nagtahli. The journey will offer pleasant views of various landscapes, ridges of Langtang, Gosainkunda, etc.

    Day 6: Hike to Taruche (3720m/12204.72 ft.) & descend to Thuman (2340m/7677.165 ft.), 7-8hr walk

    Stop At: Thuman, Thuman, Bagmati Zone, Central Region
    We will hike to the Taruche viewpoint spot. The trail continues in woods and climbs on a zigzag and contouring route with panoramic views. Once at the top the path heads to the Taruche viewpoint. The journey offers an incredible experience of Ganesh Himal ranges at 7422m, birds, ample Himalayas of Tibet, villages, and outstanding landscapes of Tibet, a ridge of Gosaikunda. After we will continue to Thuman. The path is steep to a water-driven prayer wheel. Thuman is a picturesque Tamang village of traditional houses with pleasing carved wooden windows and doors.

    Day 7: Trek to Briddim (2,239m/7,345ft), 5-6hr walk

    Stop At: Briddhim 45000, Nepal
    Our journey begins with descending through bushes trail down to Bhote Khosi river till, alpines and rhododendrons forest Lingling village. After we climb to Briddim through Pelko village. Continuing its endless climb the path enters woodlands of pine and rhododendron. The final hike climbs to the monastery and lodges of Briddim. We will experience typical villages, people's lifestyles, and observe typical household works, spin wool, and learn about traditional culture.
    Duration: 6 hours

    Day 8: Trek to Syabrubensi (1,503m/4,931 ft.),5-6hr walk

    Stop At: Thulo Syabru, Thulo Syabru, Central Region
    From Briddim a good path drops near to woodland down to the settlement of Wangel. Further down there is a lopsided chortens and across the bridge is the town of Syabrubesi. Syabrubesi is a small town, where some shops sell local handicrafts made by women, colorful aprons and shawls in the local style.

    Day 9: Scenic drive back to Kathmandu (1350m/4429.134 ft.), 6-7hr drive

    Stop At: Kathmandu 44600, Nepal
    After having breakfast, we take a long drive back to Kathmandu along the winding road. On the way get to observe the activities of local people for their daily survival passing along several towns and villages. After we reach Kathmandu check in our hotel and walk around the vibrant Thamel. Thamel is full of restaurants, shopping centers, and good accommodation.

    Day 10: Final Departure, transfer to Airport
