Here you have the chance to explore the interior of the Cathedral if you wish, as well as some free time to visit Saint Anthony’s Church which is situated on the same street.
Duration: 1 hour
Pass By: Lisbon, Lisbon, Lisbon District, Central Portugal
You then make your way down towards the air-conditioned vehicle to begin the panoramic bus tour of the city, as your guide informs you of monuments and places of interest you pass along the way. A few of the highlights include the cast iron elevator designed by one of Eiffel’s students, and the statue of King John I of Portugal, the monarch that signed the oldest military alliance still valid in Europe in 1386! On this tour, there are many photo opportunities with the most spectacular views and cultural heritage for you to explore. You will have the opportunity to admire the picturesque scenery at Liberty Avenue which looks right down to the old town of Lisbon. Don’t forget your camera as this view point is truly spectacular.
Stop At: Belem, Belem, Lisbon, Lisbon District, Central Portugal
You then move on to the Belem, passing Lisbon’s aqueduct- an 18th century structure considered the biggest engineering construction in Europe when it was inaugurated. Once in Belem, you will have free time to discover monuments, do some souvenir shopping, and most importantly the tasting of Portuguese custard tarts. Belem is home to the Factory operating since 1837 with a recipe that is said to have come from the monks that lived in the close-by monastery of Jerónimos.
From here, you will be driven past the Tower of Belem, which is just off the cost of Lisbon, so have your cameras at the ready! Your final stop will be the Monument to the Age of Discoveries, where you will have a fantastic view of the April 25 bridge- a copy of San Francisco’s Golden Gate. This incredible piece of sculpture is a beautiful historical tribute to the many people engaging or celebrating that glorious period of the Portuguese expeditions around the World. Here you will have time to take in the magnificent views of the Tagus river, and take some remarkable photographs.
