    The Order of Saint Ursula was founded in 1535 in Brescia, Lombardy, Italy, by Saint Angela Mérici. It is dedicated to educating girls and caring for the sick.     St. James Church is one of the oldest buildings in Trois-Rivières. Originally built by the Recollets, but occupied for 200 years by the Anglicans.
    It dates from 1693 and was completed in 1754. It was spared by the great fire of Trois-Rivières of 1608.
    Following the British conquest in 1760, the Récollets buildings became an armory, then a hospital, a court of law, a prison, and an administrative center.
    It became an Anglican church in 1823.

    This is Tonnancour Manor. This mansion currently houses the Parc Art Gallery. It dates from 1797, built for René Godefroy de Tonnancour (1669-1738). He was the king's attorney for Trois-Rivières. The house was originally made of stone, but was destroyed by fire in 1784.
    It was rebuilt by judge Pierre-Louis Deschenaux in 1795, adding the 3rd floor.

    This place became habited by the French in 1722. This land was at that time a public market. It was not until 100 years later that it became a parade square where military exercises were held.
    The bronze cannon is of Russian manufacture, dating from 1828. Soldiers from Trois-Rivières brought it back from the Crimean War (1853-1856).

    The Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary was built in 1858. It is in fact the 4th incarnation of this church. This one is inspired by New York's Trinity Church (built of red stone).
    It is the only Roman Catholic Church in Quebec that includes a clock on all 4 sides of its spire above the bell tower. A 5,751-pipe organ is installed inside - one of the largest in Quebec.
