Stop At: Vukovar, Vukovar, Vukovar-Syrmia County, Slavonia
Vukovar is situated in the northeast of Croatia and it is the centre of Vukovar-Srijem County. Positioned on the border of historical provinces of Eastern Slavonia and Western Srijem, the town lies on important transportation routes. The area of Vukovar has always been the intersection of roads, a place of contact between different cultures, but also the scene of wars. The preserved documents mention Vukovar as early as the beginning of the 13th century under the name "Volko", "Walk", "Wolkow", and finally under the Croatian name "Vukovo".
The Vučedol culture, which is named after the Vučedol locality, located five kilometers downstream on the Danube, is particularly significant for this region. The Vučedol dove, found at this site in 1938, has become a symbol of the city. Equally important is the Vučedol Orion, considered the oldest Indo-European calendar.
The start of the armed attack on Vukovar occurred on May 2, 1991, when 12 Croatian police officers were killed in Borovo Selo. The attack on Vukovar began on August 24, 1991 and since then the city has been under siege for three months. On November 18, 1991, Vukovar lost the battle and became military occupied. The city was torn down in 1991.
Vukovar is the story of love and courage, of strength and pain, of human dignity and the victory of life.

Stop At: Old Wine Cellars, Shetalishte O.M.Barbarica 4, Ilok 32236 Croatia
Ilok Cellars (Iločki podrumi) are guardians of Croatian wine tradition that dates back more than two millennium when it comes to vineyard appellations Principovac and Vukovo.
The Old Wine Cellar built in 1450 is the first originally purpose built wine cellar in this part of Europe. They are part of the undiscovered story of the old wine world in which the Odescalchi family was putting a striking mark in the process of creating great wines, based on the selection of best appellations, noble varieties, new technologies and original domain filling – bottling on on their property. Two centuries later, this „so called Odescalchi model“ became an example that was followed by other great names in the past and present wine order.
