Stop At: Xalapa, Ver., Mexico
Next, in Xalapa, the capital of the state of Veracruz, your guide takes you on a tour of the city’s top attractions. Pass by the Government Palace (Palacio de Gobierno), the seat of the state government; Xalapa Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana), a Baroque- and Gothic-style church; the Paseo de Los Lagos, a circuit of walking paths between lakes and leafy trees; and the area surrounding the University of Veracruz (Universidad Veracruzana)

Stop At: Pueblo Magico Coatepec, Plaza Central Plaza Principal, Coatepec Mexico
Continue to Coatepec, just a 20-minute drive away, a city designated as a Pueblo Mágico, or Magic Town for its culturally and historically significant characteristics. Swing by the 18th-century San Jerónimo Church (Iglesia de San Jerónimo), and purchase souvenirs at the market, if you like. Learn about the region’s coffee industry — at 4,100 feet (1,250 meters) above sea level, Coatepec has an ideal climate for growing coffee beans.

Stop At: Xico, Ver., Mexico
Then, enjoy a lunch break (own expense) at one of the places recommended by your guide.
Drive 15 minutes to Xico, your last sightseeing stop, located at 9,200 feet (2,800 meters) above sea level. In this city surrounded by verdant mountains, visit Mary Magdalene’s Parish Church (Parroquia de Maria Magdalena) and the Dress Museum, admire colonial homes and try some of Xico’s famous mole, a spicy Mexican sauce. On your way back to Veracruz, drive through the Texolo area and visit a coffee plantation. Your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.
